Debt Control Limited is Debt Collection Agency and Credit Control Services Company based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was launched in November 2005 when the principals identified a niche in the market to provide a professional and competitively priced Debt Collection Service. They had tried several local companies to collect outstanding debts for their own businesses and through their poor experience of these services identified the following weaknesses
- Most Competitors wanted annual fees payable upfront
- The level of customer service was poor and regular updates were not provided
- They charged a minimum of 10% as a recovery charge
- Frequently we ended up using our own solicitor
We identified that by applying charges under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 amended in 2002, that we could use this as our fee and recover the principal sum for clients, (See How Debt Collection Works) effectively providing a no cost service for clients for collection of undisputed debts.
We recognized that the transition from debt collection to legal action needed to be seamless and linked in with a local solicitor who had the same ethos in terms of communicating clearly with clients and providing an excellent customer service.
